Sometimes it's best to buy the most popular. What are the most popular smartwatches from Garmin and what makes these models so popular? We will look at that in today's article.

In this article, we will look at 6 of the most popular ranges from Garmin. They are sorted in descending order according to how they were sold in the past year at Watch 365 and we will also play a little with the idea of why this series is so popular.

1. Fenix

Fenix is a true chevalier at Garmin. It doesn't happen very often that the most popular series is nearly the most expensive, but that's just the way it is with Garmin.

Why do people reach for Fenix?

Because it has everything that Garmin has created over the years. All smart and sporty features. Extra long battery life. Just everything.

The absolute top is the Fenix 7X, which has a rather large diameter of 51 mm, but everyone reaches for it because of the larger display and longer battery life (the smaller the case, the smaller the battery). And another perfect feature is the LED flashlight, which I personally use every day. Unfortunately, the smaller variants do not have it.

The second most popular piece is the Fenix 7. It has a slightly more "sober" size and shorter battery life, but some people just can't stand the big Fenix 7X, and I understand that. Although I myself have the biggest case. :)

The least popular is the Fenix 7S model. The reason is clear. This model is aimed at women or men with narrow wrists. And guys simply reach for the 47 and 51mm case versions more often. Women, on the other hand, more often reach for slightly different series, which we will talk about in this article.

Why is the Fenix series so popular?

  • sporty-elegant design with metal elements
  • complete functional equipment (you don't have to make compromises)
  • there are so many Fenix owners that you become part of a kind of "community"
  • topographic maps and full navigation
  • extra long battery life (up to 28 days)

2. Venu

Men's Fenix are sold here six times more than women's. The Venu series... That's something else entirely.

The women's version of the Venu 2S clearly rules here. So guys (and women, if you're buying a watch yourself), if you don't want to go wrong, get the Venu 2S.

Just take a look at it.

Sober dimensions (40 mm), contactless payment, music player, very nice display and up to 10 days of battery life. What more could you want?

Someone might missthe option of phone calls. But don't worry, the slightly larger Venu 2 Plus (43 mm) is here, which supports both calling and also has a voice assistant.

The advantage is that this model uses metal elements, which makes it a slightly more elegant device.

And the lowest in popularity is the Venu 2, which has a men's size of 45 mm and is suitable for men who are looking for a watch without an outdoor look for the city, for a meeting or for recreational sports.

At the beginning of September 2022, however, the new Venu SQ 2 model came to the market, which has only one task - to satisfy those who want a square watch.

You can choose whether you want a more expensive version with music or a cheaper one without, you pay contactless and it's enough for the occasional sport. And in terms of price, it's a bit better than the rest of Garmin's models.

And do you know which model is the best for the price? Quite possibly the best price/performance ratio from Garmin?

The first generation Venu SQ. For a price of around €200, you get the same equipment, only with a slightly worse display and a shorter battery life. Are you able to make this sacrifice? So go for the Vena SQ.

Why is the Venu range so popular?

  • universal watch for the city and for recreational sports
  • smart features like music player and contactless payment
  • a slightly more acceptable price tag than Fenix
  • decent battery life
  • the biggest advantage of the Venu 2 Plus is the option of direct phone calls

3. Tactix

The popularity of the Tactix series is hard to explain. It's a watch with exactly the same equipment as the Fenix 7X, only they added military functions, which none of you will actually use anyway.

But one reason comes to mind. Have you seen the watch yet?

Anyone can say whatever they want, but the design of the Fenixes cannot match the Tactixes. Their black coloring, the flat 24-hour bezel... When you see it in person, you'll fall in love.

To be honest, I myself wear the Tactix 7, and whenever someone picks up the Fenix, sooner or later they look at my wrist and ask, "What are you wearing? Those are really nice."

After I explain to them what kind of watch it is, they divide into two groups. Those who prefer a better price and those who give in and pay extra for the innovative design of Tactix.

Why is the Tactix range so popular?

  • original sporty-elegant design with metal elements
  • complete functional equipment (you don't have to make compromises)
  • topographic maps and full navigation
  • extra long battery life (up to 28 days)
  • since you don't have Fenix like everyone else, you have Tactix

4. Forerunner

Forerunner is for runners. There are so many Forerunners that it will be easiest to direct you to a quick guide to choosing within the range.

The best-selling model is the one with the most equipment - the Forerunner 955. It has almost the same equipment as the best-selling Fenix 7. The biggest difference is a slightly lighter case, so that the watch does not bother runners and does not add unnecessary extra grams. But they paid for it with a plastic design that does not appeal to everyone.

The Forerunner 955 is a great model, but if you're looking for something that disarms the competition in the smart sports watch industry, it's the Forerunner 255. I was enchanted by this model because it costs under €400, has blind map navigation, contactless payments, 14-day battery life. .. Do you really need more arguments?

317,00 € (delivery by 3.5.)

But some don't want to pay €400 for a sports tester, and the basics are enough for them - to measure distance, heart rate, steps. What more could you want? Don't expect payment, don't expect navigation, music player, none of that. The Forerunner 55 perfectly fulfills the sufficient basic for a pleasant price tag.

170,00 € in stock

Why is the Forerunner series so popular?

  • features tailored for runners
  • lightweight all-plastic design
  • more pleasant price tag than the Fenix series

5. Vívoactive

The Vívoactive 4 series is actually almost identical to the Venu series. What is the difference between them?

The display. Vívoactive 4 uses a transflective LCD display that never fades and the more light shines on it, the more the display shines through. It may seem a bit dim, but again you are guaranteed visibility in any lighting conditions. The Fenix series uses the same technology.

I won't dissect it here too much. Vívoactive 4 have basic sports functions, contactless payment, music player. In fact, everything that an ordinary user needs from a smart watch. Why do people reach for them? Because of the non-fading display and the most important thing... Lower price. It just comes out better than the Venu range.

Why is the Vívoactive series so popular?

  • universal smart watch both for the city and for recreational sports
  • smart features like music player and contactless payment
  • slightly lower price tag than the Venu range
  • a display that doesn't fade

6. Epix

The Epix is just as well-geared as the Fenix series. You play music from them, pay contactless, look at the map, let yourself be navigated... So where is the difference? In the display. Again and again.

The Epixes use a really nice AMOLED display, which somehow better meets the requirements of today's modern world.

Just for idea. The Epix has a thousand times more colors than the Fenix. It has 65,000 colors and Fenix only 64. However, it is a bit annoying that the Epix display goes out (completely or at least the intensity of the light is reduced).

A big benefit of the Epix is definitely the backlight, because it really shines beautifully and is therefore much more suitable for someone with impaired vision.

Are you attracted by their Fenix equipment, but do you want a nice display or do you have trouble seeing? Here is Epix.

Why is the Epix series so popular?

  • sporty-elegant design with metal elements
  • complete functional equipment (you don't have to make compromises)
  • topographic maps and full navigation
  • long battery life (up to 16 days)
  • much more legible and more contrast-y AMOLED display
