Quatix 7. I present to you a watch that is exactly the same as the Fenix 7, but with yachting functions on top of that!

So, how to make sense out of them?

We have these versions of Quatix 7:

  • Quatix 7X with transflective display, solar charging, titanium band and silicone strap included
  • Quatix 7 with transflective display and Gorilla Glass
  • Quatix 7 with AMOLED display and sapphire glass

Processing

Compared to the previous generation, the biggest change is the transition to a touch screen. Of course, the watch can also be operated with buttons, but the touch screen may be more comfortable for the day-to-day use.

And speaking of displays, the Quatix 7 has a 1.3-inch display and the 7X version is 1.4-inch.

But the difference is that the Quatix 7 with transflective display has a resolution of 260 x 260 pixels and the one with the AMOLED display has a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels. It is truly a joy to look at the AMOLED. We have already seen it, for example, at the Garmin Epix watch.

The transflective display is also used in the Quatix 7X and has a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels. The huge difference, however, is that there is a solar layer around and below the display, which allows the battery to be recharged when exposed to light.

The Quatix 7 then weighs 79 (for the transflective version) and 70 grams (the AMOLED version). I have no idea if it's the transflective display or the mineral glass that makes the watch a bit heavier, but it surely is one or the other. The largest from the Quatix line-up then weighs 145 grams, but this is mainly due to the titanium band. However, should the weight bother you, you can easily replace it with the silicone band that is included in the package. It is the same color as the one on the Quatix 7 with a mineral glass.

You can also find another gadget on the Quatix 7X. LED flashlight. I know it sounds a bit silly, but it's a really practical thing!

Battery life

The Quatix 7X is simply a titan in this. Your watch will last 28 days in usual smart watch mode. With good access to a light source, the number increases up to 37 days. When receiving a signal from all navigation systems, it lasts 63 hours, and 77 hours with the correct function of solar.

The Quatix 7 with a mineral glass can last up to 18 days and, with active GPS with reception of all navigation systems, can work for up to 40 hours at a time. The Sapphire version lasts 16 days in normal mode and 32 hours when GPS is active (again, all systems).

Yachting functions

So, what's new? Thanks to the MFD function, you can now connect to selected plotters and control some of their functions. Quatix 7 will also alert you to a torn anchor or that you are pulling it behind you.

You will also enjoy the Bluechart G3 maps, which contain data important for fishing, but also information about depth, ports, etc. Just everything important that the captain may need. You now also have data on tides directly on the main dial.

Out of the older features, I would mention streaming data directly to the watch from compatible on-board devices or Fusion link, which lets you control your favorite audio system. You can also pair up with an autopilot and control the boat directly from your wrist.

Smart functions

I assume that you will also enjoy the pre-installed golf and ski maps. What is more, you will find pre-installed maps of Europe in the Quatix 7 Sapphire and Quatix 7X versions. On the basic version of Quatix 7, the maps need to be installed.

In addition, there is also an NFC payment or music player.

Sports features

Of course, Quatix is not a watch only for yachting. It is a multi-sport GPS watch, which is why we find over 30 sports activities there – whether it is running, cycling, triathlon or yoga that you are doing, you will surely find it within the list. You also get detailed data about your training - what is the status of your training, training load, VO2 max value or recovery time.

During the day, of course, the watch tracks your steps, burned calories, stress, and at night you get a detailed analysis of sleep.

And that about summarises the Quatix 7. What do you think about them?

I have been thinking of getting one of these watches, For the last few years I have been using a Galaxy 3 4G. One of the things I like about the Galaxy is that I can recieve phone calls on it, So far I have read nothing that confirms any of these watches can do that. I'm very much into boating and long distance sailing. Many of the features the Garmin offer could be very useful.
